About This Record
What Was Written Down
Junod records the legend that the Nwanati who stayed on the coast to break open the makwakwa fruit (a hard-shelled, orange-sized fruit with scented pulp) took its name, while the Maluleke went back north; the Makwakwa of Khambane and Ndindane border the Chopi. Wikipedia's Maluleke article tells the same naming story and lists Makwakwa among the Van'wanati. Recorded from the sources named on this entry; the wording here is Sibaya's own.

A family saying its own swiphato swa swivongo knows them better than any directory does. If yours has more than what is on this page, it belongs here.
