What A Stranger Can See About You
Wozekhaya can tell you that you might be related to somebody. Doing that without exposing either of you is the hardest problem in this product, and this is how it is answered.
The Short Answer
A Name, A Photograph, A Clan
If you have chosen to be findable, somebody who is not connected to you sees a card: your name, your photograph and your clan. Your country as well, if you chose to make your profile fully public.
That is the whole of it. No surname standing on its own, no birthday, no address, no phone number, no email address, and no list of your relatives. Somebody you have blocked or restricted does not find you there at all.
If you have not chosen to be findable, there is no card.
Being Suggested To Somebody
Happens Quietly, And Not To You
When Wozekhaya thinks two people may be related, only one of them is told. The other is not notified, nothing is written against their record, and nothing happens on their side at all.
A suggestion is a thought, not an event. It becomes something the other person knows about only when the first one decides to reach out. Then it is a request, which they can answer or leave.
A suggestion never shows a phone number or an email address. Not partially, not masked. And a shared surname on its own never surfaces anybody: a family name is not evidence of a family.
Looking Somebody Up
You Cannot Type In A Number And Find A Person
There is no way to put somebody else's phone number into Wozekhaya and be told who holds it. That is not a setting; there is no such search.
There is also a hard ceiling on how many strangers one account can ask about in an hour, and it cannot be seen or reset by the account it applies to. Asking is attributable. It is tied to a real, verified person, which is the point. Anonymous bulk searching is not something this product is able to do for anyone.
Becoming Connected
Proposed By One, Confirmed By The Other
A connection between two Wozekhaya accounts is proposed, never taken. Sending a request creates a proposal and nothing else. It opens no records, and the person who sent it learns nothing by sending it.
What the other person sees is the sender's own findable card and the relationship they are claiming. If they have blocked or restricted the sender, not even that. Until they answer, the two of you are not connected and neither of you can see the other's family.
A record you make about a relative who is not on Wozekhaya is a different thing, and it deserves saying plainly: they have not agreed to it, and today they have no way to be told or to ask for it to go. Most of what any family records is about people who cannot be asked. That is what a family record is. But a living person who is simply not here yet is not in the same position as an ancestor, and the difference is one we have not finished answering. If somebody tells you they are in your family's record and would rather not be, write to us and we will remove it.
Vouching
Standing Behind A Record Earns No Access To It
A relative can pass you a connection to somebody you both know, so that you link to the same person rather than each creating a separate copy of them.
It is addressed to you and to nobody else. Forwarded on, it shows the next person nothing.
And a vouch is agreement, not permission. A record ten relatives have vouched for is exactly as private as one nobody has touched. Nothing in Wozekhaya reads a vouch as a reason to open anything.
Two Families
A Match Can Exist Without Either Family Opening
Two families can be told they may be related without either family's records becoming visible to the other. That is the rule any matching in Wozekhaya has to satisfy before it is allowed to exist at all.
The comparison happens inside Wozekhaya and hands out no names. What you are shown is your own people, the relatives you yourself recorded. Everything on the other side of the match waits for both families to agree, and if they never agree it waits indefinitely.
Being in a shared space with somebody does not change this. A circle shows you the people you are already connected to; the rest of its members are simply not there for you.
Children
Never Offered To Anybody
A child is never offered to anyone as a possible relative. Where Wozekhaya cannot tell whether a record belongs to a child, it withholds it rather than risking it.
Member search does not return anybody Wozekhaya can see is under eighteen. What happens to a child's record, and who holds authority over it, is its own page.
